Forest Fae and Elves, oh my!

Through accidental circumstances this post is about a three piece series of naughty mythical creatures.

All starting from an event I asked to participate in as a vendor. I appreciate the hosts of the event for being very open and welcoming me  into their Kink event.

The theme was, you guessed it. Fairies, elves, leprechauns, goblins and other mythical creatures from fantasy and legend.

For some of these events, I will go out of my way to make an unofficial promotional poster featuring my art in some way. As a means of advertising myself and the event, and including  new prints for sale.

Since this was a kink event, featuring shibari exhibitions,  in house doms/dominatrixes and many play props and fetish furniture. I went through my photo reference collection to see what would inspire me.

Bondage Faeries

Without making a complete copy and only borrowing the pose and rope tie for reference. I decided to have them under a tree, in a field somewhere.

Depending on different factors, the rough draft and pre-production process usually takes me the longest. But for this first one  I was in a time crunch because the event I signed up for was at the last minute (almost a week and a half away).

By this point- to tweak up some anatomy and fine tune the line quality, I scanned the drawing and began working on photoshop.

Deciding to add some light shading and thicker line work to make the work pop under the promo flier.

I was on a roll and decided to further this fairy theme.

It usually surprises me when I look at a picture and immediately my creativity sparks.

Tenebris Dryadalis

I really liked the elf ears, and ethereal look of the model with her bright eyes, dark complexion and attention grabbing white hair. I also loved the background contrast of the bushy trees enveloping her surroundings. And the way the tree looks like her furniture that she’s owned longer than man’s existence.

From here I scanned the drawing and took it into photoshop again to improve on line quality and get some gray tones there- which on photoshop is more forgiving than doing it in marker or ink.

Added nice shading and blending on the edges of the tree. Some liberties were made by making her nude and adding sinister dialectic text to her body.

I feel like adding the symbols all over her body really finalized the over all look.

I was very pleased.

Kink Faeries

This piece was a little more complicated in the trilogy. Like the Godfather, the second one is my favorite of them all. I wanted to stay true to the sapphic dark themes of the series I built. So this piece spoke to me. Originally this was going to be used in an “angels and demons” drawing but I decided against it simply because I felt like it didn’t work.

Based on the original piece there are some perspective changes as the angles in the reference are a bit more dramatic and close up. I can't seem to find any preliminary sketches for this one.

Just the first drawing that was inked by hand.

For the final drawing I decided to make the receiving fairy closer to a monarch butterfly when it came to wing patterning but not using any orange color that is directly correlated with the monarch. The fairy on her knees took up the form of a mosquito which I tried to show with less elaborate wing design and a darker, more “fuzzy skin pattern and texture”.

These choices were made to give a more interesting dynamic to simply two girls getting naughty on a tree.

This concludes the breakdown of my Kinky forest creature creations. Hope you find this enlightening as all this stuff takes me hours and time and effort, and many preliminary sketches and drawings will never see the light of day outside of their notebooks and binders.
